Hi! Welcome to my website and thank you for stopping by! Your support means a lot to me.
Well, it certainly has been an emotional few months following the cancellation of As the World Turns. After 32 years playing Barbara Ryan and enjoying the daily company of my soap opera 'family' for over half my life, it has been quite a transition planning the next step in my professional journey. But change is a good thing and I am excited about what is ahead! And the time off has given me that much more quality time with my kids!
First, I want to say that I remain cancer-free and have been taking good care of myself! As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Oral Cancer in 2007, had a recurrence in 2008, and one other scare since then. But, I am okay now and spending a lot of my time working with the Oral Cancer Foundation spreading the word about early detection. I am booking speaking engagements and lectures to further the message and public awareness.
Next, I want to tell you that I believe the old saying that 'when one window closes, another window opens.' The end of As the World Turns was a great loss for me, but has given me the time to explore a lifelong dream, performing my one woman show. I have great material to draw upon -- the good, the bad, the drama, the comedy. From life as an actress to my personal adventures as mom of a blended family of six children, to my very public battle with cancer, and adventures in between, there are plenty of stories to tell. Visit this website often for updates on my show as I get ready to take it on the road later this year.
Finally, I want to thank those 10,000 plus fans who have launched a Facebook campaign to see me compete on the television show Dancing with the Stars. What a thrill it would be to appear on the show and how awesome it has been to see this outpouring of ideas and passion by the public to try to make it happen. Have a look around my new website and please tell me what you think.
